Grandma June's Family

Created by Kelly 14 years ago
Grandma June (nee HART) lived on a big dairy farm in North St. Louis county, called Hart's Dairy. The site of this dairy is now where River Road's Shopping Center is located in Jennings, MO. She lived with her 5 brothers, and she was the only girl. She always wished that she would have had a sister but it was not to be. Grandma would always tell us stories of living on the farm and milking the cows and taking care of the chickens and ducks and such!! After growing up in Jennings, MO, she married a John N Kelly, and then had her only child, Patricia Ann Kelly, born on Jan 17, 1939. After somtime, the marriage ended, and she raised Patricia on her own. After awhile she met a Ferman Lee Wallis, and she fell in love and was married on October 10. 1951. Her and her husband would fish and go camping and enjoy the outdoors. Soon Ferman became an 18-wheel truck driver and mechanic. This meant he would leave June, at home, for days at a time. Well at this time, she decided if he could drive an 18-wheeler, she could too! She passed her test, and soon they became driver's, over-the-road together! Grandma June always told us of how difficult it was for her because of her being a FEMALE that she would have to prove to the authorities, that she really had her license and would have to show it for proof!
